TEATRO DELLO SPORT – CASTELLARANO
A modern and technologically innovative building, the Teatro dello Sport in Castellarano was designed as a place of well-being, socialisation and growth for the whole community.
The facility was built with the aim of offering the community a space for sport and leisure activities, which could generate social, cultural and economic benefits. The project, strongly backed by both the municipality and the local community, was implemented with clear architectural choices focusing on sustainability, innovation and people’s health.
A distinctive feature of the new Teatro dello Sport is the use of the eco-active Active Surfaces® of the Brand Porcelaingres, laid with the technical support of Granitech, Iris Ceramica Group’s technical division. Active Surfaces® materials were chosen for their four superior properties: they are antibacterial and antiviral, helping to make the facilities safer and more hygienic, anti-pollution, improving air quality, self-cleaning, for surfaces that stay cleaner longer without the use of aggressive detergents, and anti-odour, for healthier and more comfortable spaces. Furthermore, made with recycled materials in production processes with low environmental impact, these surfaces are a choice that is consistent with the project’s sustainability needs and principles.
Outside, the ventilated façade alternates the pale, sophisticated shades of Urban Ivory and Urban Dove with the stronger, textured appeal of Radical Shabby Brown, adding a contemporary and welcoming feel to the building, which dialogues perfectly with the urban surroundings. Urban Grey, on the other hand, was chosen for the outside areas and access paths: resistant and reliable, it is ideal for ensuring lasting safety in spaces subject to high foot traffic and a range of atmospheric conditions. For the interiors, particularly the entrance, changing rooms and areas around the stands, once again the elegant neutral shade of Dove helps to create a comfortable and welcoming setting while ensuring superior health and hygiene conditions.
The Mayor of Castellarano, Giorgio Zanni, underlined how the local community pushed strongly for this new facility, which is destined to become a popular attraction for local people of all ages. He explained that the facility will be devoted to well-being, socialisation and education through sport, also helping to enhance tourism and the local economy. The project represents a major step in improving well-being in the community and making Castellarano an even more dynamic and hospitable place.
The architect Danilo Dallari highlighted how the use of Active Surfaces® led to the adoption of a responsible and sustainable design approach. He explained that the aim was to construct a building that could blend style, function and respect for the environment. He added that these eco-active surfaces are an innovative technology able to improve the quality of spaces while reducing environmental impacts, confirming how the future of architecture passes through aware choices and pioneering materials.
The new Teatro dello Sport in Castellarano is therefore a project that combines sustainability, attention to people’s well-being and the enhancement of the local community, representing a tangible model of how innovation can translate into collective benefits.
