WATERFRONT AND COUNCIL HALL IN CATTOLICA

Following the renovation and refurbishment project aiming to improve the tourism experience, the seaside town of Cattolica (RN) has revamped the Lungomare Rasi Spinelli. 800 m long and 20 m wide, today the waterfront path offers an uninterrupted view of the horizon, with continuous materials used for the pedestrian and cycle paths and roads and the presence of green areas, spaces for relaxation and events and a wellness arena.

The project, managed for the part of Rasi Spinelli by Studio Medaarch and for the Ponente and the Council building by Arch. Carlo Palmerini, was realized with the supervision of the municipal administration and the Superintendence, aimed to enhance the historical and local features of the urban context and the identifying aspects of the landscape.
In the redevelopment works, FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti ceramic surfaces in the Active Surfaces® version were chosen for the paving.

Aiming for aesthetic and chromatic continuity, the waterfront - including the Guido-Paolucci raised walkway - was covered with around 10,000 m2 of Quarzite in the Active Surfaces® version, the eco-active ceramics with antibacterial and antiviral (also against SARS-CoV-2), anti-pollution, anti-odour and self-cleaning properties, certified to ISO standards. Exposed to (natural or artificial) light and the humidity present in the air, these materials are able to eliminate  bacteria and viruses, fungi and mould, bad odours, preventing the formation of polluting particles and preventing dirt from sticking. Chosen in size 60x60 cm in the shades Sabbia and Ghiaccio, the Textured finish with R11 coefficient of friction and slip factor, ensures safety for users.

Eco-active Active Surfaces®, with their superior safety, hygiene, health and beauty, were also used in the Council building, Palazzo Mancini, where works were carried out to improve energy efficiency and seismic performance. In the building, the innovative Urban Dove Active, 60x60 cm in 8 mm thickness was laid on the floor of the council hall measuring approximately 380 m2.
